(More customer reviews)For basic home networking, this router is fine as long as you don't need any support. I could never get VPN to work, and Gateway tech support admitted it was most likely a hardware problem, but refused to even tell me where to find firmware updates since the problem was not discovered until it was barely out of warranty (unless I paid $3/minute or $300/year for the privilege, although they assured me that they still didn't expect to be able to solve the problem even if I paid the steep price). Since this was one of many such experiences over the past few years, I replaced the router with another brand (a less expensive but more configurable model), and have had no problems at all.

The Gateway Wireless-G Router is the focal point of any high-speed home network. One of the benefits of this wireless standard is that Wireless-G devices can also work with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment. Since both standards are built in, you can protect your investment in existing Wireless-B infrastructure, and migrate to the fast, new Wireless-G standard as your needs grow. While Gateway's Wireless-G products are optimized while working within a fully integrated Gateway network, they have been designed to be compatible within any established Wireless-G or Wireless-B network. Even at speeds up to 54mbps, the router protects your data and privacy with the Wireless-G Broadband Router that encrypts all wireless transmissions. The Router also serves as a protection device against Internet intruders with its high-security 128-bit WEP encryption, as well as provides content filtering options for parental control of what is viewed on your home network. Every Gateway wireless product includes easy-to-use software and instructions so your equipment is set up in a snap! Gateway Wireless networks are designed to work with the Gateway Media Center PCs, desktops, notebooks, Tablet PCs and the Connected DVD.
