Well, I was ready to tackle a series of issues, as networking or trying to get anything connected in my house is usually a heavy reading affair. I plugged in and that was it. i was sure it was a trap of some kind... but truly it was that easy. It worked for me with no set up, no wep codes ( i was on wi fi previously ) just connect and go. I don't really like writing reviews , but i had to for this because it was so awesome for me.
My Steps:
Connect your dsl router on one. ( in my case it was on the opposite side of the house )
Plug in 2nd one in the power jack closest to the device you'd like to hook up. shazam. done.
the end.

D-Link D-Life Internet Surveillance Camera Starter Kit (DHA-390) Review

D-Link D-Life Internet Surveillance Camera Starter Kit (DHA-390)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I can't fathom why anybody would actually buy this product. Across the board, everything about it is just plain wrong.
Powerline networking is a relatively good idea, but it looks like the marketing department at D-Link got together one day to see what kind of products they could cram it in to. With this surveillance camera, the implementation is sloppy and unnecessary.
Keep in mind too, that Powerline networking isn't always as straightforward as plugging in a "wall wort" and connecting ethernet to it. If you're using any multi-outlet adapters, or if your home's wiring isn't nearly pristine, the experience can be almost as painful as just running CAT5 cable through your house.
The camera itself is massive compared to any web cam made in the past decade, and assembling it to the base is needlessly complicated for what it is. On the plus side, the base is quite heavy, so it isn't going to be knocked down easily. On the other hand, you absolutely must use wall anchors if you plan to mount the camera on a wall. And given the size of this camera, it's so large and obvious that your baby and pets are the only ones who aren't going to notice it.
Perhaps the most mind boggling issue I have with this kit, is that you can't host it yourself. To see what's on the camera, you have to go to D-Link's site (which is simply not possible if you aren't using Windows and Internet Explorer) and create an account. Once you've done that, you can only see the camera through D-Link's site.
I'm not typically a paranoid person, but that really raised an "Are you serious?" from me. Why the heck would you have a camera in your home broadcasting to D-Link's site? What stops D-Link from peeking in? And perhaps more importantly, what happens if D-Link goes under, or decides that they're just not interested in offering the service anymore? More likely than not, you'll be left with expensive, useless junk.
Don't get me wrong, I can see the value in offering a camera that "just works", but not having the option to host it yourself, and being locked in to Internet Explorer are ridiculous barriers.

Panasonic BL-C111A Network Camera Wired Review

Panasonic BL-C111A Network Camera Wired
Average Reviews:

First, let me compliment Panasonic on its customer support. It may take a few minutes to get through, but they do know what they are doing. I needed them twice during setup and they came through both times.
Pros: This is a decent camera at a great price; decent low light performance; relatively easy setup; free web access hosted by Panasonic; compatible with any cell phone with a web browser (pics only); motion sensor; reliable.
Cons: slow shutter speed (anything moving is blurry) and really does not do 30 FPS as advertised.
Overall - recommended as a reasonable cost home monitoring system.

Skip this one Don't bother buying this until late December '00 or until you check with the support folks. They admitted a bad crystal was "discovered" after the product shipped and they will not have replacements for weeks (as of 11/10/00)

D-Link DI-704P 4-port 10BaseT/100BaseTX Broadband Gateway with Print Server Review

D-Link DI-704P 4-port 10BaseT/100BaseTX Broadband Gateway with Print Server

I purchased a refurbished model for around [$$$] and everything was in perfect order. The old admin password had already been removed so there was no problem accessing configuration.
The D-Link DI-704P is very easy to hook up. I especially like the idea of having all the wiring in back and the LED's in front. As far as documentation; it is all included on the cd in pdf format. I suppose this keeps the cost down.
Getting things up and running took about half an hour, mostly because of one small undocumented glitch. It just would not connect. The problem was easily solved after reviewing the FAQ's on D-Link's web site. All I had to do was run winipcfg and release the current settings, then renew. After that just power down everything (computer, router, cablemodem). Then power the cablemodem back up and let it cycle through its procedures; power on the router; then the computer. All works perfect.
One of the main reason for choosing this unit was the print server feature. The software installed flawlessly, and reconfiguring my printer to direct it towards the D-Link print server was easy (HP DeskJet 420). Printing functions normally, so now my computer does not have to be on 24/7 to act as the print server.
I rate this product 5 stars for value and performance, but minus one star because the faq answer should have been included in the original documentation. So maybe a 4 1/2 star rating is more appropriate.

The DI-704P broadband router is a cost effective solution giving you the privilege of sharing your printer on the network without the need to purchase another print server. The router has a built-in 4-port switch plus a parallel port to share a printer. It has MAC filtering to allow you to allow or deny computers on the network access to the Internet. The router also serves as a firewall along with Network Address Translation which allows you to share a single IP address to protect you from outside intruders gaining access to your private network. The DI-704P includes a new, easy-to-use web based graphical user interface to easily configure the router the way you want it to be.

Belkin F5D4070 Powerline Ethernet Adapteres Review

I live in an apartment and found myself in a horrible situation. My home computer and router are in my office while my XBox is in the living room. I use to run a 50 foot ethernet cable to connect my Xbox to the router. Once I married I was forced to stop this practice. I started looking for a solution that would not only allow me continue to play my games around the world, but my wife also had a workstation in the bedroom that needed to be connected. I'm not a fan of wireless because of security issues. Therefore, I bought this product. It works great!!!! It was plug and play (netork). I had no issues. This product is fast. I'm on comcast broadband and I would say I'm running at 90-98% of the speed I was at before from any of the access points. This product also allowed me to save space around my desktop by connecting the modem (and first powerline module) behind the tv. Remember you need at least two modules to start the network. For instance I bought four. One for the main computer, one for the bedroom computer, one for the xbox, and the fourth one which connect behind the tv and provides the connection (to cable modem) for everything. A word of note the only device that needs the drives loaded is the computer. If you are hooking up a device like XBox or Tivo all you need to do is plug it up.

This Ethernet adapter helps you to link your Ethernet-equipped computers and devices over your existing, standard 110-volt electrical wiring, eliminating the need for messy cables. Installation is easy; you simply plug one end of the adapter into an available wall outlet and connect the other end to any available Ethernet port. Then Belkin's Plug-and-Play technology sets the rest up for you and provides Internet, file, and peripheral sharing for your computer, letting you network from virtually any room in your home or office. The device fits any standard 2- or 3-prong wall outlet, offers 56-bit DES data encryption to allow for secure data transmissions, and avoids network disruption and power line noise by using PowerPacket-hopping frequencies to maintain network connections. It is compatible with Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me and XP software, and includes a life-time warranty and free 24 hour technical support.
