I read mixed reviews of this product, but decided to give it a try. I used it with two different laptops that have their own built-in adapters, in areas where signals were weak and inconsistent. In both cases, the signals were at least usable. It's not a miracle-worker, but there is a definite difference between the built-in adapters and this one. And because it is on a USB cable, the antenna has more positioning versatility than a whole computer does.

This is a cheap and convenient solution when you don't have a wi-fi card and you do have a USB port and wireless connectivity. The only problem is no matter how you adjust it the best I can get is "weak signal" even from about 25 feet from the source. But it seems to work fine with a weak signal so I can't complain too much. It does have an irritating flashing blue light so it's best to stick the device in a usb slot that is out of your direct line of sight.

Grace Digital GDI-IRA500 Wireless Internet Radio Adapter Featuring Pandora, NPR and SIRIUS Review

Grace Digital GDI-IRA500 Wireless Internet Radio Adapter Featuring Pandora, NPR and SIRIUS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Grace Solo internet radio does a great job connecting the world of internet radio to my home stereo.
The Solo is good looking and connects simply out of the box. Plug in the power, connect the standard rca cable to your stereo, turn it on, choose your home network and within 5 minutes you are listening to Pandora or one of the 17,000 radio stations. While Grace has many models of standalone table top radios, I like the Solo because it connects directly to my home stereo (or even powered speakers). The solo even has a headset jack.
When you first take the Solo out of the box, you see the Solo internet radio tuner, a power cable, manual, remote and rca cable to connect to your stereo. It uses WiFi to access the internet. Make sure you have Wi-Fi in your home, and that it is strong in the area you put the solo. The Solo does have a built in Wi-Fi signal meter to see how strong your Wi-Fi is. So if you put it on the bottom shelf of your stereo system and notice a weak signal you may want to put it on a middle or top shelf. The Solo works with any 802.11b,g or n router and has a built in 802.11g receiver.
After you connect to your wireless network (you will need your wireless WEP or WPA password to do this) and set the time zone on the clock, the Solo remembers everything (including station presets) when you unplug it. That is nice because no one wants to type their wireless password in more than once.
Once you are set up you can start searching for stations by genre or location or type the call sign of the station directly into the radio. You can do this via the remote control or directly on the unit itself. I like Pandora. In order to listen to Pandora you have to register your radio at Grace's web site [...] . After you create a Grace account you enter in your Pandora user name and password on the Grace site and the radio is linked to your Pandora stations. Within a minute your Pandora stations are on the Grace radio in the `personal radio' folder. Pretty cool. You can create stations on the Grace Solo, although I prefer to do that on the Pandora web site. Grace plays SIRIUS and Live365 as well but I do not have SIRIUS or Live365 VIP accounts so I can't comment on that.

I really love the Grace unit. I get all my local radio stations #my FM reception is bad at my house but my favorite FM stations - most do these days - broadcast over the internet .. so I get those, Pandora, NPR and I even started listening to the BBC 4 which is kind of cool#.
Obviously I give this a 5 star. The only negative I would say is that on a few random stations they do not show the song metadata (they all show the station metadata). I'm not sure if that is because the station is not sending it or what. You get the station and song metadata for Pandora which is the most important for me. Oh - you can even thumbs up or down Pandora songs .. very of cool.

Actiontec GT701D Ethernet DSL Modem with Routing Capabilities Review

Actiontec GT701D Ethernet DSL Modem with Routing Capabilities
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this unit to replace a Motorola 2210 that after 13 months died of heat exhaustion. The 2210 ran HOT HOT HOT. I was told by an ATT Tech that the unit might last a year, and of course 13 months out, one month after the warranty expired the 2210 died. My replacement setup tied this Actiontec unit to a D-Link DIR 655 Extreme N Wireless Router. When I attempted an automatic setup, it turned out that both the Actiontec and the D-Link Wireless Router shared an IDENTICAL IP Network Address at 168.192.0.1. This is not a good thing. However after a quick call to Actiontec Customer Support on a Friday Night (I really do have a life:) along with a brief description of the conflict issue, I was able (using advance settings) to modify the Network IP Address on the Actiontec unit, resolve the conflict and get the unit up and running. This unit is virtually identical to the Motorola 2210 in terms of connections and for anyone replacing a burned out 2210 Motorola (piece of junk) this is the unit for you. The unit is about the same size and runs noticeably cooler than the 2210. From other reviews of this and a related Actiontec unit it appears and so far I can confirm that this Actiontec unit is very effective in holding and processing the DSL signal. The slightly more expensive Actiontec USB & Ethernet DSL Modem has an on off switch a USB port and can handle two computers on a wired network basis without an additional network adapter, but is also an older unit that must be upgraded to ADSL 2/2+, whereas this GT701D unit has ADSL 2/2+ protocol built in. This is a great unit for the money if you require a simple stand alone DSL modem.

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked this little antenna or not. There isn't much to it... it's got a connector, a cord, a magnetic base (which is pretty strong by the way) and of course the antenna itself. It didn't seem to give me much of an improvement until I learned how to pick the correct location for it...
The biggest benefit of having one of these is flexibility of placement. With antennas, correct placement is crucial. I bought two: one for my desktop PC and one for my router. These antennas aren't necessarily any more sensitive than the little plastic ones that come with wifi cards and access points, but being able to move the antenna location from behind the PC on the floor (which is where most people with wireless cards have their antennas) to the top of your desk or on top of your monitor makes a big difference right away.
Now, if you are really serious about getting the best performance out of this antenna, I would suggest you download a program called NetStumbler. It will let you see the S/N ratio in dBm and it updates in real-time. This lets you get perfect placement with your antenna. You'd be amazed what a difference an inch to the left or right can make. I have a feeling a lot of people who have problems with aftermarket wifi antennas are not placing them properly.
For $5.54 each plus a couple bucks for shipping, this antenna can't be beat.

Panasonic Network Camera and Pet Cam (BLC1A) Review

Panasonic Network Camera and Pet Cam (BLC1A)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The BL-C1A is listed as "requiring" both Windows and Internet Explorer. After a bit of experimenting, it seems it doesn't, and is perfectly usable with Ubuntu (or indeed any OS) and Firefox. No need for Windows at all.
So, for anybody else who wants to use the BL-C1A camera with something other than Windows here's how.
First, ignore the shiny Windows CDROM in the box. Plug the camera into your router with your own network cable (they don't supply one!) and plug in the power supply. Wait a minute. If your router is 192.168.0.1, the camera should default to 192.168.0.253 (or 192.168.1.253 for a 192.168.1.1 router, etc).
From Firefox on the local network just go to the IP addess of the camera (as above) followed by ?mode=local and you should get the camera's built in web server. (The mode=local is essential, to activate it). Create an admin userid/password, hit enter. That's it.
Configuring the cameras for static addresses, different ports etc is all done via the web interface after that point, so still doesn't need Windows or IE in any way.
With a few lines written in the manual they could drop the Windows/IE requirement.
Camera works very nicely, and so does emailing, and the viewnetcam dynamic dns service (after a bit of a battle with router settings). One warning: you can't test the viewnetcam service from the same network that the camera is on, so before you think it's not working try it from elsewhere!
Camera does the job fine for the price, one point deducted for not having any non-Windows installation instructions.

TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless G PoE Access Point TEW-434APB (Blue) Review

TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless G PoE Access Point TEW-434APB (Blue)
Average Reviews:

I recently bought a LCD TV that has an Ethernet connection to get on the internet. I dreaded the thought of running a cable to the TV. After looking around for an easier solution I found this and once I set it up as an "access client" it worked great. If you can set up a wireless router you will have no problem with the set up. It can be used on anything that has an Ethernet connection. I tested it on an older laptop that is just wireless B (11 Mbps), I disabled the wireless on the laptop and just connected the Trendnet to the laptop and now it is much faster on the internet. I also plan on using it on my new Blu-ray player that has the Netflix capability. I misunderstood the PoE feature as being able to draw power through the Ethernet cable like with USB devices, I was wrong and spent $10 more than I had to. Oh-well, lesson learned. Get the "TEW-430APB" unless you really have PoE.

Avaak Vue SB2300 Personal Video Network with Wireless Remote Video Review

Avaak Vue SB2300 Personal Video Network with Wireless Remote Video
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using the Vue system for several months (part of their beta test program). If you understand the intended purpose and application for this product I think you'll be happy with it. The cameras are completely wireless - no network or power, plus they are extremely small and unobtrusive. This allows you place them almost anywhere. Because they are wireless, the product isn't designed for constant recording (battery life). The Vue system is intended to provide you with the ability to remotely check in and view your home for a few minutes at a time. While not perfect, it does this job very well.
I use this to check on my lake house when I'm not there. I have one cam pointed out a window looking out over the dock and another at the main living area. I always wonder if a storm or high wind has created any problem with the boat - so this allows me to check in, take a peek and put my mind at rest. Plus I can see if the lawn guy cut the grass or not. And when I'm at work and wish I was at the lake, I can get a quick fix ;)
Pros: extremely simple setup. Wonderful design for the cams - no wires and extremely compact. Easy to login online and view images from cameras live.
Cons: website is a bit flaky and controls are somewhat strange (but I expect that will improve over time). Image quality is adequate.
Bottom line: If you want high quality streaming video 24x7, this is not the product. If you want an easy to install, easy to use camera system to check in remotely periodically for a live view this fits the bill.

Asante 600N Wireless-N Router with 4-Port SmartHub Review

Asante 600N Wireless-N Router with 4-Port SmartHub
Average Reviews:

I like the 4 simple & clear EZ steps where my Internet dummy fellows who can all hands on without bother me. Create username and password and we do not need to worry about wifi those hi-tech crypto stuff. Never have a chance to understand which crypto is the best and why. My wife does not care. One thing I do not like is the quick guide is too simple to tell you there is a button to disable EZsetup. And it turns me to the old fashion broadband router mode(Advanced mode) to let pro guys to play with. The advanced setup is almost same as linksys, netgear. So technically, you do not need to review the manual if you know linksys well- that is good.
Other than that, if you want your tech dummy family whoever set up something for you like Xbox, or video IP, you can ask them to enter "smarthub" at any browser address bar then the web management will be shown easily. This is a great idea and you do not need to tell the 192.168.x.x to those who has no idea what it is. Or worry which IP address was changed long time ago. Giving a name to call the management software is quite a idea.
Nice distance on wifi technology. At least, I have one cover my whole house. I just leaned from tech support that this is the smallest hotspot wifi router in the planet.
Great product overall. If you want a simple life, go for this smarthub. I am sure other two models are same user interface. Have fun.

The Samsung USB LAN works incredibly well with my Samsung Blu-ray player. Movie streaming from both Blockbuster and Netflix is basically flawless. The set-up was easy - and if I can do it, anybody can. The LAN is a bit pricey because it is proprietary - my understanding is that the Samsung Blu-ray players can only use this LAN and are not compatable with other wireless LANs.

Motorola Wireless Notebook Adapter WN825G Review

Motorola Wireless Notebook Adapter WN825G
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this card as it was on sale and I got it for $9.99 I was expecting Windows XP Pro to recognize the card as soon as inserted it but it didn't. I had to use the installation CDROM that came with it. Installation was a breeze.
One of the first things I came to know when using the card was its limited range. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and it is placed high enough from the ground with minimal obstruction. Compared to the Cisco AIR-CB21AG-A-K9 (which I already have) the range of this card is very less.
Other issue I had was the software to control the card. If you decide to use the motorola's wireless utility to configure the wireless connection, the connection is flaky and the connection is dropped frequently. However, if you use Windows to confgiure the wireless connection then connection does not drop that frequently.
Overall I give it a 3 stars.

This product is rushed to the market but not yet ready for prime time.
Issues:
1) If you are using VPN to access your companies network - forget it, this product won't allow you to connect (will not pass IPSec-L2TP or PPTP traffic through)
2) WEP encryption doesn't work - yes, you can enable it but after 3 min you will loose connectivity with you wireless network. With WEP disabled connectivity will stay up.
3) MAC filtering doesn't work also - the router will reset back to default (Disabled) setting as soon as you submit changes to it.
4) Changing Internet Filters setting will reset this router to factory default.
5) Firewall is also not performing well.
6) Tech support is "dancing" and you won't give you any type of answer when they will come up with firmware upgrade - they won't allow you to talk to a supervisor also - USELESS.
On my scale from 1 to 5 this product gets 1.5.

I ordered Alfa 505 and it is the worst router I ever had to setup and install.
I install over 300 routers in a year and most of them are Cisco, Linksys, or Netgear for companies and NET cafes.
Pros:
-Small
-simple router function for connecting ONE laptop
Cons:
-Worst GUI hands down (web page based administration) too much to change (which doesnt work either)
-Has to be the most difficult to setup out of ANY table top router
-AIRLINK is a better product - you know those $15 Frys routers outperform this router
-Limited rage doesnt even go 100 feet
-BRIDGE MODE does not work - DO not purchase this for a wifi to LAN bridge - security features doesnt block MAC address like its supposed to!!!!
-Antenna is flimsy and does not stay in position
-NOT a GOOD router at this price point (not even worth $5 USD)
-NAT firewall doesnt work either gapping holes in the ports its supposed to block- there is no FIRMWARE upgrades
-I hate this router and it would cost me more money to ship it back for what i paid for it!!!!
-DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER OR ANY ALFA PRODUCT - the are beyond cheap in quality - BELKIN at WALMART would outperform this router and the antenna would stay up!

NETGEAR WAG511 802.11a/b/g Dual Band Wireless PC Card Review

NETGEAR WAG511 802.11a/b/g Dual Band Wireless PC Card

This card is great if you have a 802.11b router at home and 802.11a or g at work or University.
It is true that it is more expensive than the others, but you get access to three standards instead of 1 or 2.
If you'll always be working in a 802.11g or 802.11a network, buy another card, buy if you need access wherever you go, this is for you.
