I am a DSL user and it seems there are not too many companies catering my needs, which are a combined modem and wireless router. I made the mistake of getting such a box (2wire) from ATT. It would broadcast about 1 meter (I am not kidding), meaning that I had to use an ethernet cable. My next mistake was to get a linksys router to put in front of 2wire (using the 2wire as a modem only). Everytime there was a storm or electrical surge, one or the other reset and claimed the same IP address. I had wires running everywhere and learned more about windows networking than I ever wanted to know. I had to go static IP addresses and bypass DCHP to get anything to work. So, I was trying to choose between d-link and zoom and saw one favourable review for zoom (Lopez), so I took a chance on it. As he says, it works as advertised and I am down to one small box and very few wires. The wireless is faster than the linksys. I only give the warning that, if you are like me and have other things installed that you are switching out, you should uninstall any software and get rid of old network connections. Also, this router has an on/off switch that is set to off. I suffered a momentary heart skip when I plugged it in and no light came on. The manual is fairly good (pdf) but is not savable on hard disk which is not too reasonable (you can print it). Now, if ATT would bundle a quality product like this, it would surely enhance its image as an IP. Does that notion require a Harvard MBA?
