It works on LINUX too not only on windows XP
If the CD of drivers didn't work you can check for the drivers on line.
Now, the range is typical .... I think it is 5db. TRUE 5db not a fake!

In general I appreciate Netgear products for they are cheap, good and work on LINUX FEDORA 9, 10, 11, 12 ... Don't know about earlier versions of Fedora and copatibility with this card or the PCMCIA Netgear cards ..
