Bought this adapter for my Verizon Novatel PC770 modem, because my new Laptop did not have a PCMCIA or Expresscard slot.
Before I got the adapter, on my old laptop I never got more than 3 bars of signal, even with an external antenna hooked up. Now with the cable connected to the USB port, I get 5 bars of signal, which equals a higher data rate. It works so well, I'd recommend everyone buys it, even if you have PCMCIA/Expresscard slots, just for the signal improvement.
Note that the adapter only works with a modem that uses the USB mode of the Expresscard/PCMCIA interface. Problem is that no-one tells you how the card works. Guess the PC770 works via the USB mode because this adapter works perfectly.

Use with 300mA USB 2.0 ports is not recommended and may not provide sufficient current for certain ExpressCard applications. Using USB 2.0 technology, the device supports high speed applications including HSDPA and HSUPA ExpressCards. The EXP-USB USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 Mode ExpressCard Host Adapter is very small and lightweight, providing excellent portability.
