(More customer reviews)The harbor where I keep my boat has free WiFi, but I have a difficult time getting a good signal from inside the cabin using the built-in antenna on my laptop. This solved the problem. Between being able to have an antenna higher up and the 9dBi gain I was able to receive a strong fast signal. Additionally, since its omnidirectional it continued to work well as the boat swung around on its mooring. Since I haven't found a good place to permanently mount it, I just stuck it to the outside of the cabin with some electrical tape and take it down when I'm done. It'd be nice if it came with some additional mounting options, but for its price I really can't complain.
Installation was simple. The included installation CD supports Linux, Mac, and Windows. I'm running Win7x64 and had no problem with installation, just plug in the antenna and run the setup program. The included software allows you to view all the available hot spots including signal strength, WiFi version (b,g,n), and easily connect to the one you want. If you prefer you can use Window's built in network connection just as easily.
Since it has its own WiFi adapter built-in, don't forget to turn off the adapter built into your laptop before using this.
